Jean-Luc J. Forest
Jean-Luc is a graduate of UBC Law and has been with Cobbett & Cotton since 2009.
Jean-Luc has developed a successful practice working primarily in the areas of family law and real estate loan security enforcement. He demonstrates a strong desire and ability to strive for timely and positive results for his clients. Jean-Luc has experience attending court in both the Supreme Court and Provincial Court. He has also participated in civil and family mediations and is working towards training as a family law mediator.
In the area of family law, Jean-Luc has significant experience negotiating and drafting family law agreements. He strongly believes in engaging in a respectful approach to resolving the delicate issues that arise in family matters. Where appropriate, he attempts to assist parties in reaching practical and, if possible, mutually beneficial solutions, as an alternative to or prior to resorting to litigation. He also believes in encouraging his clients to become informed, educated and to take an active role in the resolution of their family law issues.
Jean-Luc acts in civil matters, with the focus of his civil practice being to act for lenders in real estate litigation. Jean-Luc provides strategic advice about the impact on equities, discusses available options, and is a strong advocate for his clients. On behalf of his clients, he can also actively liaise with and assist their agents, in order to better protect the client’s interests, in a way that is efficient, effective and practical.
Jean-Luc had a long and varied background before entering law which includes work in the insurance industry and in counselling. He is pleased to bring these client service skills to his work at Cobbett & Cotton.
