John P. Hamilton
Mr. Hamilton joined Cobbett & Cotton in 1999 and practices in the area of civil litigation. He has acted for clients involved in a variety of civil disputes including claims arising from contested estates, personal injury, wrongful dismissal, unpaid private mortgages and sale of defective residential real estate.
Mr. Hamilton is committed to litigating on behalf of private clients in those cases where a lawyer can make a real difference. He has negotiated settlements for seriously injured clients, as well as in matters of contested estates, and successfully represented other clients in the Supreme Court of British Columbia on occasions when an acceptable out of court offer was not made.
Mr. Hamilton was born and raised in Vancouver. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of British Columbia in 1988 and Bachelor of Laws from the University of Victoria in 1991. After completing his articles at a Vancouver law firm, he was admitted to the British Columbia Bar in 1992. He is a current member of the Trial Lawyers Association of British Columbia.
Mr. Hamilton is a hockey fan and enjoys staying in shape playing recreational ice hockey in the Adult “Safe” Hockey League at Burnaby 8 Rinks.
